NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Convenes its 22nd Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights convened its 22nd regular meeting at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District under the chairpersonship of Mr. Fareed Ghazi and membership of Dr. Abdulrrahman Jawaheri and Dr. Jameela Al-Sammak, 

The Committee discussed various issues, notably the phenomenon of the spread of stray dogs, which dangers the life and money of people as well as their livelihood, taking into consideration the humanitarian principles of animal welfare, through proposing appropriate solutions thereof.  It further discussed the events held by the NIHR in view of its role in the field of fostering human rights, especially the economic, social and cultural rights, in cooperation with various stakeholders which support NIHR’s work at local, regional or international levels.

It is worth mentioning that the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights is one of NIHR’s permanent specific committees, which is concerned with showing opinion on issues related to economic, social and cultural human rights, following-up relevant public opinion issues and information programs, studying the economic conditions in the Kingdom of Bahrain in terms of income level and rates, evaluating educational curricula and giving feedback on their development pursuant to international standards, following-up the implementation of relevant international conventions and treaties, and reviewing Kingdom’s reservations entered on some provisions of conventions to which the country acceded.
